With the Smart Country Convention, we are shortening the path to the digital world."

More than 10,000 representatives from politics, business, cities and municipalities will come together at the Smart Country Convention in Berlin from October 22 to 24. The aim is to learn from the best, accelerate digitalization and implement it in a way that is citizen-friendly.

Dr. Christian Göke, CEO of Messe Berlin, explains: "The special thing about the Smart Country Convention is its cross-sector character: We are not just concerned with the digitization of administration, we cover all areas of the smart city and the smart region. We aim to present the topic along the entire value chain, to integrate the relevant partners and are therefore the leading event in this field in Germany for the second year in a row. We don't just talk about digitization, we show how it works using concrete examples."

As a smart country role model and partner country, Lithuania is a guest at the Smart Country Convention this year. Deividas Matulionis, Vice Chancellor of the Republic of Lithuania: "Digitalization has played a major role in Lithuania's successful development in the areas of economy and information society. EU membership has broken down political barriers and the digital world allows us to overcome geographical and bureaucratic boundaries by constantly improving and expanding the economy and public services. We believe in Germany's potential to become a leading country in the EU in digitalization. Both the Lithuanian government and Lithuania's economy want to be a strong partner for Germany, for example in creating digital solutions and expanding electronic services. We will share our experience in the areas of digital services, smart cities and cybersecurity at the Smart Country Convention and look forward to interested visitors."
