Sometimes things happen by chance. That's what happened to Celia Villarrubia when, right after finishing her degree, she applied for a job offer to work in a collaboration agency specialising in new technologies. They took her on and that's where her technological journey began, in which she rcs data brazil been learning new things for eleven years without stopping. In this interview, she brings us closer to the day-to-day life of one of the most changing and technical sectors of journalism, tells us what she is most passionate about in her work and what her secrets are for always being informed about what is happening between cables and networks.

When and why did you decide to become a journalist?

Before I started high school, when I had to choose between a branch of training (science or literature), that was when I made the decision. I have always loved reading and writing, so I had no doubt that the profession that best suited my tastes and needs was journalism. Being aware of current events or knowing first-hand the present history through its protagonists are some of the characteristics that most attracted me to this profession.

How did you get into the new technologies sector?

It was a bit by chance: a job offer came up at a collaboration agency specialising in this area, I passed the test and, almost without realising it, I have been working in the technology sector for 11 years now. Although at first it was not the speciality that attracted my attention the most, it is true that over time I have become more and more specialised and I find it to be a sector that is not only interesting, but essential. If you realise, the vast majority of things we do on a daily basis are based on technology and on terms that are so fashionable like the “cloud”, that abstract place for many - but which has a purely technological basis - where our data is stored so that we can access it regardless of the place and the device from which we connect. If this technology did not work as it should - and sometimes it does - the repercussions could have a global reach: airlines that have to cancel flights, cities that see their communication systems paralysed, clients anywhere in the world who cannot access their data, etc. It is extremely exciting.
