Ubiquitous AI: Five Biggest Decisions Businesses Face
08.11.2023
Demand for generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is higher than for any other emerging technology because it is widely recognized that it can impact market opportunities, competitive dynamics, and long-term strategic plans in ways we have not yet seen, writes Meredith Whalen, research director at IDC, in a corporate blog.
GenAI is ushering in a new phase of the digital journey that IDC calls “AI Everywhere.” During this phase, business leaders will need to adjust their strategy, invest in new technologies, and develop new skills. As they prepare their organizations for the widespread adoption of AI, leaders face the following critical decisions:
About half of organizations already have an cyprus mobile database roadmap, and it is expected to be updated to reflect new GenAI use cases; the rest will need to develop one.
GenAI presents significant opportunities for both productivity and revenue growth. Our global survey of business leaders shows that organizations will prioritize productivity scenarios in the next 18-24 months, and revenue growth scenarios in 3-5 years.
Industry upheavals
There’s no doubt that GenAI is having a huge impact — according to our global research, 37% of all global IT leaders believe GenAI has already fundamentally changed the way their organization works (19%) or will do so in the next 18 months (18%). Industries expected to see disruption in the next 18 months include life sciences, healthcare, professional services, and media/entertainment. In life sciences and healthcare, GenAI is being used to digitize biology to reduce the time and cost of bringing new drugs to market. In media and entertainment, GenAI will enable broadcasters to create new TV viewing experiences that engage and entertain audiences. And for IT services companies, GenAI will reduce the cost and time of delivery — we predict that 40% of services will be delivered using GenAI by 2025.
