In the mad rush towards technological evolution, it may simply be a matter of not forgetting that Facebook and Co. are only tools, which we could potentially do without . Tech euphoria is fading at "South by Southwest" to make way for real reflection on ethics. AI is just math, technology is at the service of humans, and not the other way around, and even if it sometimes manages to do things better, faster and cheaper than us, it may not ultimately be the miracle solution to all our problems .

Hate speech – a deep aversion to the Other – is flooding the Internet, despite attempts to regulate online speech. Civil society and state bodies – European and non-European ( delegations , European Commission , Council of Europe , UNESCO ) – are trying to combat the proliferation of these hateful remarks. The platforms themselves – Facebook , Twitter , etc. – are trying to establish policies to monitor hateful conduct, between automatic detection and the use of reports by individuals.
