Those who have been trying to get rid of their homes for months without success know better than to say that houses are no longer selling like they used to. Of course, there's a solution for everything, and one of the most convincing options for homeowners is auctions, a marketing method that's still a minority but is gaining ground among those who can't sell their homes.
"One of the reasons they decide to put them up for auction is the speed of the sale, as they can find a buyer in just 25 days," says Marisela González, managing partner of the Gesinar Group's Auctions department.

"Perhaps someone has put their house up for sale and shop if it hasn't sold after six months, to avoid wasting any more time, they decide to put it in the hands of a specialized company. Furthermore, although the price must be attractive—always below the market price—there are often revaluations that reach market values and, in some cases, exceed them by up to 25%, so it can be a very attractive selling option," he continues.
"It's normal for all the homes we auction off to sell, especially if the starting price is attractive. Of course, you can't generalize, and in the end, it always depends on the quality of the lot being awarded," say sources at Gesinar, who also confirm that many people are reluctant to lower the bid. "Those with the fewest reservations are those who have tried to sell on their own and haven't been able to."
