Therefore, most companies, especially those in no hurry to migrate, simply "blew the dust" off Skype* and deployed it themselves. Yes, it is a much less functional product than MS Teams*, but basically - by 90% - it covered all video conferencing tasks. In addition, it is integrated with all services - for example, with email clients."

Dmitry Shulga attributes the use of foreign products to market inertia: "Foreign videoconferencing products are used because they are familiar and proven, all Russian developments still need time to achieve technological parity. This does not mean that they are not ready for use today. VideoMost covers 80% of the basic functionality of Zoom* and Teams*, but customers often have specific requirements that none of the Russian videoconferencing products meet. At the same time, customers do not want to wait and pay for improvements, and small domestic vendors are simply not able to change the product for each customer at their own expense: no internal investments are enough for this."

Dmitry Sery believes that the niche for foreign solutions is constantly narrowing: "Foreign solutions are mainly used by commercial customers who are not bound by mandatory requirements to switch to domestic products; they have long built an infrastructure on imported equipment. However, this segment is also "giving in" - with each new restriction from foreign companies for Russian users, information attacks and incidents with data leaks, the number of requests to Russian videoconferencing developers is growing. In turn, domestic vendors are actively working to improve products, often making them more functional than foreign ones."

Director of the "Meetings" business unit of Webinar Technologies LLC (MTS Link) Oleg Pashukevich, referring to a joint study with TAdviser, estimated the share of Russian companies that use exclusively foreign products at 1%, 39% use only Russian ones, and the remaining 60% combine both. At the same time, he also called the practice of using instant messengers, usually WhatsApp or Telegram, for corporate communications widespread: 70% of respondents admitted to this. Oleg Pashukevich called this practice very risky, but without the use of instant messengers, business processes can simply stop.
