Saturno Hogar is the fifth largest retail chain of household appliances in the country. Leader in Patagonia, more than 400 employees work in its 35 branches.

The beginning of the relationship with Qlik was very auspicious: “ I downloaded a free QlikView demo from the website and used the tool to graph a presentation for the managers, which made the CEO want to buy it after seeing its performance and analysis capacity.
The Systems department also contacted other BI tool providers to request quotes and product demos. Knowing what could be done with QlikView, we demanded the same level of performance and results analysis.
Seeing their refusal to make a prototype and travel to Neuquén, we gave up the search and opted to continue evaluating the QlikView team, who once again made a prototype in a day and a half, this time in Neuquén. The project required six weeks of consulting, of which six days were in that province ,” concluded Navarro.

Saturn Home 1The outlook that Navarro found when he took up his post was not very encouraging: “ I carried out profitability analyses of branches together with the technology department. The information was collected from the marketing system that had been implemented four months earlier, but it was very unstable, as it had quite a few problems with the data structure and the indices were shooting up, so access to the information was neither simple nor precise ,” he said.

However, with the implementation of QlikView, positive results were not long in coming: “ Since the core of the retail business is financing, once we controlled the inventories, this was the area where we had to put the most focus. We started working together with Systems to obtain clearer information. The Collections indicators improved notably, with arrears of between 4 and 4.5%, which in 2007/2008 had reached levels of 20% ,” said Navarro. He also added that “the analysis led us to make the decision to modify the incentives and the collection strategy; both Credits and Sales now have aligned incentives to better originate credits and ensure their collection. All of this is controlled from QlikView.”

Finally, Navarro said that “ currently each of the analytical applications we develop have access to different systems or modules and now they are all in QlikView. ”
