Once again, there are quite a few changes on social media that are currently happening in Slovenia. Today I'm sharing with you all the news that can help you with your social media strategy.

1. FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM

Verified accounts also for business pages

Meta verified for businesses

Meta announced that we will soon be able to verify accounts for companies and brands. Until now, it was only possible as an individual.

Monthly subscriptions will start at $21.99/month per Instagram account or Facebook Page. You will be able to cancel your subscriptions at any time.

Why is it worth having Meta verified?

You receive a blue checkmark confirming that your business is verified and authentic.

Phishing Protection - Provide additional protection for your brand with proactive phishing monitoring.

Account Support - Access support and help troubleshooting account issues with expanded account support for Meta Verified businesses that are not yet advertising with Meta.

Improved discovery - discover accounts in new ways by presenting you as a Meta Verified business.

Are you paying for a Meta verified subscription?

Yes, I'm already paying.

Not yet, I'm thinking about it.

I'm not interested.

2. FACEBOOK

Removed admins from inactive Facebook groups

In early August, several Facebook group admins reported receiving a notification indicating that Meta would assign admin status to another group member unless they became more active in the group.

Facebook is likely targeting "dormant" groups that have been less active recently. The platform prefers active participation. In some cases, admins are notified 6 days before the change.

To avoid this situation, it is recommended that administrators do the following:

1) assign at least one backup guardian who can take over if necessary,

2) archive all old, unused groups yourself instead of letting Facebook remove you and

3) Re-enable any inactive groups to show that there is still activity.

We can create up to 4 personal Facebook accounts

Soon you will be able to create up to 4 additional Facebook personal profiles (with any name) that are linked to your original account.

What will these profiles be used for?

Just one additional profile can help keep your personal and business lives separate. You can then use this profile for business networking, collaboration, joining groups, customer support, and more.

On a secondary profile, you can post content about a very specific hobby or project email lists uk and gain like-minded followers instead of annoying all your friends and family with topics they may not be interested in.

To join groups under a different name and participate without necessarily revealing your real name/identity. (This could have advantages and disadvantages, as group owners wouldn't see the real people)

You can use this profile to follow specific people and pages about topics you are interested in without posting anything.

Multiple profiles allow for a clearer organization of friends, groups, and interests, which will "help you feel freer to interact with your audience."

Important to know:

Your new profiles are NOT new Facebook accounts. (Having more than one personal account is still against Facebook's rules.) Only profiles created through your main account are considered additional profiles.

Facebook's rules still state that a personal profile is for non-commercial use and represents an individual.

For now, you can't switch your new 'sub-profiles' to professional mode. Only classic mode.

You should be able to add your sub-profiles to your groups and make them admins if you want. Same with your page (setting as admin).

As for using Messenger with your new sub-profiles, users are reporting that they are not receiving messages. Facebook states in its official announcement: "To start, messaging will be available in the Facebook app and on the web for additional personal profiles."

For all blocked/banned personal profiles, Facebook states: "Blocking one profile does not transfer to other profiles you may have."

Facebook started testing these profiles in July 2022. This feature is currently rolling out globally starting September 21, 2023, and will be available in the coming months. If you don't have the option yet, it's only a matter of time.

Tags now also on Facebook profiles and pages

Now, just like in Facebook groups , you can also tag all your followers once a day on Facebook pages and profiles so that they receive a notification that you have posted something.

IMPORTANT: I advise you not to use this every day, but only when you have some really good content or an important announcement. If you use this too often, it can have the opposite effect.

What tags can you use:

@all (this is exclusive to groups)

@followers (for both business pages and personal profiles, as far as I know)

@friends (for personal profiles)

@attendees (to tag all your responses to Facebook events - 'will be attending' and can include 'interested')

@highlight (use this in a comment on anyone's post and it sends a notification to all your friends... hmm!)

3. INSTAGRAM

Testing 10 min Reels

10 minute Reels
10 minute Reels

Longer Reels would allow content creators to post more in-depth content and eliminate the need to split longer videos into multiple parts.

Currently, Instagram Reels can officially be anywhere from 15 to 90 seconds long — if you shoot your Reel with the Instagram camera.

This move by Instagram looks like an attempt to compete with TikTok, which introduced 10-minute videos in February 2022.

Longer videos also put Instagram in direct competition with YouTube, which is breaking into the short-form video space with its Shorts format.

4. LINKEDIN

Managing messages from your personal LinkedIn profile

For a very long time, it was not possible to send messages to business LinkedIn pages, which was very impractical.

Now it's possible, and you can also manage messages from your personal LinkedIn profile.

You go into your Messaging and you have a special Page Inboxes tab where you can switch between business LinkedIn pages.

AI tool for creating posts

Now you can write posts on your personal LinkedIn profiles using an AI tool. All you need to do is enter up to 30 words of what you want and it will compose a post for you.

You can also customize it before publishing it. It's not as good as Chat GPT, for example, but it can be a little helpful.
