Four out of five smartphone users take self-portraits

79 percent of smartphone users take selfies. There is now a special day for them, the "International Selfie Day". This year it takes place on June 22nd. Such self-portraits are taken primarily as a souvenir (74 percent). Three out of five of those who take selfies (63 percent) send the pictures to their friends and acquaintances via messenger. Over half (52 percent) share them on social networks. This is shown by a representative survey commissioned by the digital association Bitkom among 1,004 people in Germany aged 16 and over.
Selfies have fans in every age group: three quarters netherland gambling data (75 percent) of 16 to 29 year olds take a photo of themselves at least once a week. More than a quarter (28 percent) of them even do it daily. This makes them the most active when it comes to taking self-portraits. Two thirds (67 percent) of people between the ages of 30 and 49 use their smartphone camera at least once a week, as do three out of five of 50 to 64 year olds (61 percent) and those over 64 (63 percent).
21 percent of those who share selfies on social networks or messengers send them daily. Here, too, 16- to 29-year-olds are the most active at 34 percent. Only four percent of people aged 65 and over share their selfies at least once a day. Overall, self-portraits mostly end up in messenger chats or on social media on a weekly basis (44 percent).
