But Google says DA is not real!

This topic is a blog post (or eleven) in itself, but I’m belize number data to narrow it down to a few points. First, Google’s official statements define the terms very narrowly. What Google has said is that they don’t use domain-level authority metrics for ranking. Okay, let’s take that at face value. Do you really believe that a new page on a low-authority domain (let’s say DA = 25) has the same chance of ranking as a high-authority domain (DA = 75)? Absolutely not, because each domain benefits from its own overall internal link equity, which is driven by links from individual pages. Whether you measure this overall effect in a metric or not, it’s still there.
Let me ask you another question. How do you measure the competitiveness of a new page, one that has no Page Authority (or Page Rank or whatever metric Google uses)? This question is a big part of why Domain Authority exists — to help you understand your ability to compete on terms you haven’t targeted and content you haven’t written yet.
