A poor economic climate and a decline in the number of new subscribers are forcing the various players to tighten their belts. Overall spending on original content is expected to fall from 6% in 2022 to just 2% this year . The trend affects major TV channels such as RTL, ITV or the Italian Mediaset but also the main streaming services. Disney had quickly caught up with Netflix in a year 2022 where AVOD has broken through . The streaming giants are seeing a lower number of subscribers than expected, and must face increasing operating costs for their platform .
