Netskope: Shadow Cloud IT Continues to Grow with the Cloud
The number of cloud applications used by the average company continues to grow in Q4 2016, but so do the threats associated with the spread of malware through shared data, according to the April 2017 Cloud Report from cloud service management firm Netskope.
of last year, found that the average number of cloud services used by businesses grew to 1,071, up 4% from the previous quarter. However, less than 7% of those services were built explicitly for business and considered enterprise-ready.
“In our experience, about 90 to 95 percent of cloud services switzerland whatsapp data used in an unauthorized manner,” said Jervis Huey, Netskope’s senior security strategist. “These are niche applications that line-of-business people need for specific purposes but are used without management expertise.”
Employees often drive companies to adopt cloud applications and services, and IT and information security departments struggle to keep up. The problem with unauthorized cloud use—often referred to as “shadow IT”—is that companies are unaware that some cloud activity opens the business to cyberattacks.
