1. Max Planck Masterclass: Philipp Dann. The next Max Planck Masterclass with Professor Philipp Dann is now open for applications (deadline 17 April). The Masterclass on “Colonial Legacies in Public Law: Histories, Theories, Pitfalls and Potentials” will take place on 17 – 20 June 2024 at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, Germany. 2. Call for Abstracts: PhD Workshop on EU’s Geopolitical Awakening. The T.M.C. Asser Instituut’s Centre for the Law of EU External Relations (CLEER) and Leiden University are inviting current PhD scholars and early career researchers to submit abstracts for a two-day PhD workshop on the legal implications of the EU’s “geopolitical awakening.” The workshop will take place at the Asser Institute in The Hague on 6 – 7 May 2024. The workshop will explore the challenges and opportunities posed by the EU’s growing vnpay database role as a geopolitical actor in the wake of the war in Ukraine. Participants will discuss how the EU can balance its commitment to multilateralism and international law with its need for strategic autonomy in a complex and uncertain global environment. 3. Summer School on European Union Law, Corfu 2024. The ‘Summer School on European Union Law, Corfu 2024’ will take place from 22 – 26 July 2024 in Corfu, with the topic ‘EU Law in times of crisis’, and applications are now open. The Summer School is yearly organised by the European Law Masters Alumni Association of the Law School of Athens (ELMAA) in collaboration with the Ionian University of Corfu and the Corfu Bar Association. The Summer School’s professors are members of the Court of Justice of the European Union, civil servants of the EU institutions, as well as professors and lawyers from European universities and law firms respectively. The 50 Summer School’s students are mainly LLM/PhD students and young practicing lawyers from all over Europe and abroad. The participation fee covers 6 nights’ accommodation, half board (breakfast, coffee break and dinner) and social activities. 4. Call for Submissions: Jean Monnet Saar. The Jean Monnet Saar blog invites interested persons to contribute scholarly articles in English or German. Jean Monnet Saar is an academic blog run for over ten years by Prof. Dr. Thomas Giegerich, LL.M. (Univ. of Virginia), Director of the Europa-Institut and Professor of European Law, International Law and Public Law, and his team at Saarland University. The Blog actively contributes to the open access transformation of academic publishing in order to make European law and developments in European integration accessible to the general public.
