How to choose keywords correctly

How many keywords do I need?
To better organize the search for keywords, we first have to set ourselves some well-defined objectives . With keywords, it is not enough to say "the more, the better." We have to be selective, since positioning each one of them will take work.

The easiest way is to structure keywords following the same hierarchy as your website or blog. Therefore, we will look for keywords at different levels:

A main keyword that you want to rank your entire website for in the long term. This keyword will usually be associated with your domain name.

A series of secondary keywords that are very relevant to your business. Normally, between 3 and 7 will be enough. These keywords are the ones you will use for the main sections of your website or the categories of your blog.

Finally, in addition to this general keyword structure, we will have to look for between 3 and 5 more specific keywords for each of the articles on our website or the posts on our blog.

The 3 most important criteria for choosing keywords
The market we want to target. In general, generic keywords have a lot of competition and are not the ones that generate the highest conversion rates. Therefore, it is better to choose more specific keywords, which are more relevant to our buyer persona and easier to rank for. For example, "buy furniture online" would be too generic. Something like "ecological wood furniture" might work better.
