CAN WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE AS PROFESSIONALS?

The 13th Locaweb Meeting in Porto Alegre, held on May 5, 2011, was very good. Firstly, because you can learn a lot from these speakers who are at the center of major events, and secondly, because the networking that this type of event generates is highly productive.
Being among the best professionals in your field of activity, being able to gather contacts and references about each person's work, makes any professional who aims to achieve a certain level in their work, start to believe that yes, it is possible.
Many companies become obsolete in their activities simply because they do not buy smart number in the power of professional retraining. And I am not talking about courses or universities, I am talking about being up to date with what is happening and motivating your employees to do the same.
Feeling part of something bigger than the basic routine of your daily obligations leads people to explore their limits. When you begin to understand that your activity is prosperous and that the people who have reached it are approachable human beings, you begin to question your productivity and your position within this world, industry or niche, as you prefer.
Technical learning does make us more productive, we learn to optimize time through direct and accurate techniques for each need, but what I want to say in this post is that we are more than professionals who exchange their time for money. Of course, we could stop and analyze Maslow's hierarchy of needs, and the subject really has everything to do with that, but the central point of my approach is just one of the items in the pyramid: personal fulfillment, professional aspiration, recognition.
The host of the event in Porto Alegre, Mr. René de Paula Júnior, author of the blog a web fora da caixa, was brilliant in his presentations, he spoke to us about the concern we should have in prospecting for business on the internet, thinking about the real benefit of our clients, remembering that the event was aimed at internet professionals.
What he mentioned was that the results of our work are what make the difference, not the effort or the fulfillment of obligations. Just like internet professionals, what do you or your company do to offer something new that really adds up to benefits for your customers? What is your effective differentiator? And please, let's not be demagogic, talking about quality or punctuality. What is mandatory cannot be considered a differentiator.
