In the top management of a company, besides the CEO, the CMO (or CGO) and CTO (or CIO) are the backbone of digital transformation. The marketing department is often the first functional department within the company to undergo digital transformation. to convey brand information to consumers. Marketers also need to constantly learn new skills and try new tricks more than programmers. CMOs also inherently need to preach digital transformation within the C-Suite to establish a vision and goal for growth and demonstrate the drag and gap caused by the current processes and organizational structure relative to achieving these goals.

CTOs must support CMOs at this moment and actively promote the replacement of old systems and processes with more efficient collaborative systems and processes. One-third of the respondents in a survey conducted by Constellation Research in Q3 2018 expressed such concerns. Therefore, digital transformation is often a test of the courage of senior executives of large companies.
