It's that part of the trip where I get to be myself and I don't need to hide what I think or how I feel. When we head back to the hotel bar at the Hilton, I'm reminded of just how much scrutiny we're under at SEOmoz. Someone brings up a comment I never replied to on the blog, while someone else wants to know my opinion of a potentially insulting tweet or my take on the latest blogosphere drama.
Every mention across every social media platform - telemarketing leads, saudi arabia telephone number data that's trying on the spirit. And yet, what right do I have to complain? If SEOmoz gets to reap the benefits of being a public brand, with a vibrant, active community, aren't we then obligated to be under the microscope and take our licks? In many ways, this is my own fault. There have been times in the past where I've reacted poorly (or simply reacted at all) to comments and threads I should have ignored.
I like writing about search spam, showing how it works and learning from it, and yet I've let myself be bullied away from that subject matter because my skin isn't thick enough. I've compromised on my motto of "sharing way, way, way too much" in the last year, something I thought I'd never do. It doesn't seem to have hurt, though - the reach of the blog and site are bigger than ever (not that I don't miss it).
It's this attention to detail - to every post that's written, every comment that's left
