Before we get started, there's one thing you should know about me. I change into clean clothes every day, sometimes multiple times a day, whether I'm at home or on the road. When traveling, this practice can often prove inconvenient because I don't have the luxury of my own closet and an endless supply of clothes to use and wash as needed.
It's also important to note that when I travel, I never wash clothes or use cameroon whatsapp list laundry and ironing services. Instead, I put everything that's been worn once in a special bag for dirty clothes, which I don't open again until I return home and have access to the washing machine.
This practice isn't so inconvenient when I'm traveling by car because without too much thought, I pack the way I want, throw my suitcases in the trunk, and suffer when I get home because I have too much to unpack.
But what if you don't have a car and are traveling by plane? Things get complicated, especially considering the strict weight limit policies of airlines and the fact that I'm terribly stingy when it comes to paying for stupid things like exceeding the limit.
So how do I pack so I don't have 10 suitcases full of clothes?
Put on the heaviest thing on yourself.
I read that a passenger was arrested at a British airport for wearing several pairs of pants, shirts, T-shirts, and other accessories in order to get through with just hand luggage. You don't have to go to such extremes, but it's smart to put on the heaviest item of clothing or shoes to save space in your suitcase.
I always travel with a few pairs of sneakers, and I keep the heaviest and largest ones on my feet. Since it's often cold on planes, it's not a bad idea to have something more substantial on your feet, especially if the flight is short and you don't get a blanket to cover yourself with.
The same goes for clothing. If you're carrying a jacket, tie it around your waist and get on the plane that way. Be creative, you'll be happy when you realize how much lighter your suitcase is.
Plan combinations in advance
I have to admit, this is really hard for me, because as much as I love to plan, planning outfits isn't the most fun thing in the world. But, when I wasn't planning outfits, I packed so many stupid and pointless things that I can't even describe it to you.
Now I look at the approximate weather forecast for the location I'm going to, open my closets and start thinking about what fits the destination I'm visiting (if I'm going to Capri or Dubai, it's completely logical that I won't wear long sleeves or an umbrella), how I feel, what I feel like wearing and what kind of places I'll be going to.
Then I start taking out clothes that fit all of the above and packing them. As a backup, I always pack a few extra pieces, in case I need them (I never need them, but what can I do), shoes (usually sneakers on my feet, another pair of thin ones like Converse in my suitcase, and espadrilles if it's a summer trip, although a winter trip isn't much different either) and just one bag because I don't need it anymore, and you won't either, even if you think you will.
