The Russian developer and manufacturer of electronic industry goods "Beshtau" has developed microprocessors, which it will produce in quantities of 1 million per year, and in the future - 2-2.5 million per year. This was reported at the conference "Russian Electronics: Waiting for the Mass Consumer" by the general director of the "Beshtau" group of companies Oleg Osipov.
chips per month. Assembly taiwan whatsapp resource takes place in the city of Rostov-on-Don. We trained personnel for three years. Now we are going to invest about 2 billion rubles in this project, after which we will reach the production of 2-2.5 million chips per year. But at first we will package 1 million microprocessors per year," said Oleg Osipov.
However, Oleg Osipov specified that the packaging of microprocessors will be done using imported cores. In his opinion, there is no point in buying equipment, mastering the technology or investing in the development of substrate production technologies, since the company does not have enough customers for this yet.
"We bought a proven core from a foreign vendor. It's a bit scary to buy on the Russian market, because none of the market players can confirm that the core was used in a specific chip in exactly this configuration. We wouldn't want to spend a year and a half and then get a zero result. As a result, we took some components from previous controllers, and bought some additionally," Oleg Osipov told a ComNews correspondent.
The CEO of Beshtau has not yet disclosed other details about the deal and the start date for the production of microprocessors. An official statement on this matter will be made at the industrial exhibition Innoprom 2024 in Yekaterinburg, which will be held on July 8-11, 2024.
Other Russian manufacturers are facing various problems in the production of microprocessors. For example, the CEO of the Russian processor developer Baikal Electronics, Andrey Evdokimov, spoke only about attempts to produce chips: "We are trying to assemble chips in Russia, we are thinking about making substrates. There are certain successes, there is a positive outlook on the future, but for now this remains at the experimental level due to various reasons. It is too early to talk about great breakthroughs."
Vladimir Dmitriev, Executive Director of the Russian investment and industrial holding company for the development and production of electronics GS Group, touched upon the topic of packaging of "Baikal" processors: "Despite the fact that our competence in the field of microcircuit packaging is many years old, we have long been engaged in simple tasks and solved them successfully. We have assembled more than 20 million end devices using independent packaging of microcircuits. But we have not encountered a task of the complexity level of "Baikal". Over the past year, we have been trying to make several batches and achieve the final goal - sooner or later to come to the packaging of a serial batch. For now, we are talking about progressive movement forward. The customer believes in us and supports us. But it is premature to talk about results."
Ivan Pokrovsky, Executive Director of the Association of Electronics Developers and Manufacturers (ARPE), recalled that the Russian market is at the localization stage: "The localization stage continues, which consists of the fact that the largest Russian trading companies, which previously acted as a channel for foreign products, have changed their positioning. They are trying to become vendors, product companies from a channel. And the easiest way to move from one function to another is to buy foreign design documentation and localize part of the production operations. We are at this stage and are not creating any demand for Russian components, because demand is formed during the design process. But it remains abroad for now."
