During the pilot, 5G networks will undergo compatibility tests with special services and satellite communications networks. This was stated in a statement by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media following the meeting.

The Ministry of Digital Development also did not provide an answer regarding the content of the commission meeting and the timing of the pilot project.

So it looks like there were problems with coordination in the lower part of the seemingly accessible 5G range. What does this mean? That the 5G range can be cut by almost 40%, or by 230 MHz out of 590 MHz. And then 360 MHz will be available for 5G for all operators, or 90 MHz each."

At the end of January 2024, the government designated the 4.4-4.99 GHz frequency band for the deployment of 5G networks. The band is used, among other things, by special services and satellite systems. Leonid Konik, a partner at ComNews Research, previously said that the range has many limitations and almost no 5G base stations are created for it in the world. However, he believes that there may not be a problem in Russia - domestic developers can create equipment for this band from scratch.
